This project addressed the need to update and convert 4 days worth of Instructor Led Training on Contracts and Grants/Proposals for Artists that was outdated and the client no longer wanted to bring in facilitators to run it. The solution was to convert the Instructor Led Training content into eLearning modules that students and artistic professionals could access in a self-paced manner.
The Instructor Led Training was outdated and content heavy. The client was relying on contracting facilitators to lead the sessions.
To address the need for a self-serve learning solution on contracts and grants/proposals for artists, I analyzed the content and objectives of the 4 days of Instructor Led Training modules. One program was built with a slide deck and the other was a MS Word document of a facilitator guide. The material was analyzed and learning outcomes were updated to reflect the current need and the eLearning modality.
It was challenging to create an interactive solution from a content heavy source. It was determined that going back to the drawing board on learning outcomes was necessary, rather than just pushing the content into an authoring tool. The goal was to create engaging content with opportunities for assessments and scenario-based demonstrations. The material was reorganized to better suit the learning needs. For example, rather than one large module on grants and proposals, it was divided into a module on finding grants and a second module on writing proposals - two separate component skills.
Learners will be able to review the eLearning as many times as needed, and as the need arises. For example, when faced with a new deal with a client to sell artwork, they can review the contracts essentials course.
Vyond whiteboard animation was included to activate learning, define the 'why' of the learning, and to engage learners in a realistic problem scenarios.
5 eLearning modules were created, each with realistic and entertaining problem scenarios, clear demonstrations, and applied learning opportunities. These modules will be made available on the website for AUArts for both students and other artistic professionals.
